AESTHETIC SURGERY
RHINOPLASTY
Rhinoplasty is a surgery of shaping a nose, which is incompatible with the rest of the face in terms of shape or size, in a way that fits with the face. If septoplasty, in other words, nasal septum surgery is added to the operation, then it is called septorhinoplasty.
The nose is the most striking organ on our face. Arched, curved, too long or too short, asymmetries between the right and left can create discomfort in terms of aesthetics.
There are often functional problems in the nose that is anatomically not ideal. Rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty surgery is recommended for patients with such problems.
Rhinoplasty is a profile surgery. The lateral profile of the face varies considerably. In order to have a balanced profile, additional interventions may be recommended for the forehead and chin tip to the patient for whom the rhinoplasty is planned.

Rhinoplasty Types
Before Rhinoplasty
Before rhinoplasty surgery, patients are examined in details.Patients tell about the points that make them unhappy. If deemed necessary, radiological examinations are requested. In patients for whom surgery is planned, the examination with a speculum is often sufficient.
In order to have rhinoplasty surgery, bone development is expected to be completed. Not recommended before age 17 for girls and 18-19 for boys.
During Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty operations are the operations that are performed under general anesthesia and in hospital conditions. Open or closed rhinoplasty can be preferred. The difference between the two is the incision made or not made in the area that we call “columella” under the tip of the nose.
In both open and closed rhinoplasty, it is possible to reach and shape both bone, cartilage and soft tissues.
In patients with insufficient cartilage tissue, cartilage can be removed from the ribs or behind the ear to support the nose. Placing a tampon or plaster in rhinoplasty operations is the own preference of the surgeon. It usually requires an overnight hospital stay after surgery.
After Rhinoplasty
Much pain is not expected after rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty surgery. Edema and bruising are normal for 1-2 weeks after the surgery. With the new techniques, such complications have been minimized.
Rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty surgery requires resting for 4-5 days and must be waited for 2 months for heavy exercises.
