OTOPLASTY
Prominent ear is the most common ear deformity observed. Its causes are loosening in the folds of the cartilages that form the auricle. It is usually bilateral, but the degree of the two sides is often different.
The prominent ear appearance is not welcomed, particularly in western societies. This situation that does not pose a medical problem can be corrected with aesthetic surgery.

Before Otoplasty
Women with prominent ears do not want to tie their hair. On the other hand, men distract attention with different haircuts or accessories. Otoplasty surgery can be performed at any age. However, the psychology of many children is affected by the comments of their friends in primary school age. For this reason, the ideal period is the pre-school period.
During Otoplasty
Prominent ear surgery is performed under general anesthesia in young children and under local anesthesia in older children and adults. It takes approximately 30-45 minutes. It is usually sufficient to make the incisions behind the ear. The auricle with insufficient folds is repaired. The angle between the back of the ear and the head is narrowed. The earlobe is also corrected.
After Otoplasty
The postoperative period is painless. The dressing that is made by the physician is opened with the recommendation of the physician. Oral antibiotics and painkillers are used. Prominent ear band or tennis band should be used during the recovery period.
